I have always loved animals and helping others. I majored in Biological Anthropology at UC San Diego with the dream of being the next Jane Goodall. I wanted to live in the forest and study the creatures that lived there, but plans change! I just finished my 10th year of teaching. I have taught elementary science, 3rd, 5th and 6th grade. And I am happy to report that I love my job and think it is a better fit than living in the forest full-time. One great part of teaching is I can travel and volunteer on my summer vacation. So this year I am venturing to the other side of the world and into the Southern hemisphere!
I will be working with a British Charity grouped, Seed Madagascar. While I am in Madagascar I will be part of the Conservation Programme (Visit the 'What?' page to learn more).
I will get to live and work with the Malagasy people. This island was once a French colony so many names and traditions are French.
When you think of Madagascar wildlife you might think of this...
But I will actually be experiencing more of this...
Madagascar is a unique island habitat that is known for more than its crazy lemurs. I encourage you to learn more about the plants and animals found no where else on Earth.
